At the end of the iPhone 14 press release, Apple shared the latest missing details about iOS 16. We now know that the company plans to release the final version of iOS 16 on September 12 —
iOS 16 is the new version of iOS, the company’s operating system for the iPhone. This is a free download and works with iPhone 8 or later, iPhone SE 2nd and 3rd generation.
Apple officially announces the release date of iOS 16 for iPhone: get ready to update your devices on September 12
After releasing a barrage of endless betas, Apple has finally taken charge of something we have been waiting for a long time – the release date of the final version. The Cupertino company says that those with a compatible device will be able to update to the latest iPhone software on September 12, within a few days. If you’ve skipped all public and developer betas of the final software only, please mark your calendars today.
As Apple has already confirmed, iPadOS 16 will be available later for compatible iPads later this year. We assume it will arrive alongside new iPads in the next month or so. We don’t know exactly how this will play out, so take our word for it with a grain of salt. It’s much better for Apple to deliver the software update later, as long as it comes with the polish we expect from new software. As of now, features like Stage Manager are a mess.
Edit and undo sent iMessages
If you accidentally sent or misspelled a text message through iMessage, iOS 16 will let you unsend or even edit the message. However, this only works for up to 15 minutes after the message is sent. Obviously, this feature will only work if the recipient is using iMessage, and you won’t be able to delete it if the message was sent to non-Apple devices using traditional SMS.
Apple has offered dictation for a while now, which allows you to type with your voice. With iOS 16, they provide a more seamless experience where you can switch between voice input and touch input without switching keyboards. To replace a word with voice, you can select the text box and replace it simply by speaking the new text. The dictation feature has also been improved to support automatic punctuation and emoji dictation.
Latest Apple iOS 16 Updates
Apple is currently working on improvements and fixes for iOS 15, and is only testing a few features for the next major version of iOS. This is everything that happens in the Apple Developer Hub.
On December 17, 2021, Apple released the first beta versions of the upcoming iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates to developers for testing purposes. This comes four days after the release of the predecessors, iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2.
iOS 16 Features (Planned)
iOS 16 is expected to bring a major revision to iOS 15. iOS 16 may bring a new interactive widget; iOS 16 is also expected to bring a new capability to the Siri voice assistant, which can transfer content directly from iOS to Mac and Apple TV. It will also come with a new focus stick, which you can activate focus mode directly from the stick. A new background sound app is also expected. More features include all new privacy features, new retouched home screen and user interface.
iOS is already smooth and fast. But iOS 16 will bring smoother animation and hassle-free experience. It is also said that users will be able to order food directly from Apple Cards from their favorite restaurant. The Stock Photo app needs to be touched up with all the news and stories we see on Google Photos.
